TDEG Helps Out with Eagle Scout Project
|Trevor’s project involved installing four solar panel modules on a shed located on the property of the First United Methodist Church. A structural engineer was needed to approve the weight of the solar panel modules and to submit a letter to the Town of Castle Rock. Solar panels were needed to power up a golf cart which would be used to transport elderly parishioners at the Church. Steve determined that the structure is capable of supporting the additional weight of the proposed solar panels. After the letter was submitted to the Town, Trevor and others from Troop 316 got to work. The panels were installed and the job completed! Kudos were given to Steve for volunteering his expertise and to Trevor who completed his project for a worthy cause!|

As in years past, TDEG has participated in the “Holiday Adopt-a-Family” Program at the Women’s Center of Greater Danbury, which provides services to victims of abuse. We each purchased gifts off the family’s “Wish List”. We hope the family has as much fun opening their gifts as we have had giving them! Happy Holidays to All!
TDEG decided to building the world’s largest building, Burj Khalifa. The first problem was figuring out the amounts of cans to be used and what would be used to hold the structure together. The rules only allow for cardboard tubes, Velcro, tape, rubber bands, nylon string and wire. After designing the project, and much thought, the team set forth in building with the cans in the front lobby of the office building. The structure was 10 feet tall and used a total of 644 cans. Afterwards, all the food cans are donated to local food banks. TDEG was up against nine other teams and placed third. Proud of what was a team effort, the team is ready to take on the competition again next year! To see more about Canstruction click here: Canstruction.org
