The project consists of three single story additions of 2,790 sq. ft., 1,200 sq., ft. and 270 sq. ft. respectively. Each addition had its own lateral support system to resist wind and seismic forces. The existing open web steel joists spanning the mezzanine level were required to be reinforced to increase the floor capacity due to the proposed library stack room as per the NYS building code. At the rear addition a new transfer beam was added to remove an existing column between the first and second floor framing to satisfy the architectural layout.
