Best Structural Engineering Firms To Work For 2009 announced
Structural Engineer
Ridgefield, CT, October 8, 2009 - Stagnito Media, publisher of Structural Engineer magazine, in collaboration with management consulting and research firm ZweigWhite, is pleased to announce the 2009 Best Structural Engineering Firms To Work For list. Distinguished firms were honored during an awards celebration on Sept. 22 during the 2009 Best Firms Summit in Chicago. Conference attendees representing civil and structural engineering, architectural, environmental service, and multi-discipline firms enjoyed the award-filled evening honoring 18 structural engineering firms - the Top 15 and 3 Honorable Mentions.

Structural Engineer honors the firms with great workplaces in its annual ranking, a much-anticipated resource that shows which firms are "putting it out there" and seeing how they stack up against their industry peers. Job-seekers value the list as a source of unbiased information to see which firms are focused on workplace practice issues, and non-job-seekers love to see how their firm fares.

Asked why TDEG was selected for this recognition, CEO Val Ericson replied, "Our staff of dedicated and competent professionals understands the value of teamwork with our clients, designers, builders and each other to deliver successful building projects. Our success in providing creative Structural Engineering solutions and exceptional client service fulfills the personal and professional objectives of our staff."

Nils Ericson, PE - LEED Accredited
Structural Engineer Ridgefield, CT, March 31, 2006 - Nils Ericson, PE, a Project Manager with The Di Salvo Ericson Group, Structural Engineers of Ridgefield, recently earned the title, LEED Accredited Professional from the U.S. Green Building Council. LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is a national standard used to rate and certify buildings for environmental performance, and occupant comfort and health. Being LEED accredited means that the professional has the knowledge and skills necessary to design a building using standards for sustainability and occupant well being, and the ability to streamline the application process for LEED Certification. Nils is currently project manager for the structural engineering on the Hamilton Avenue School, a new two-story, 73,000 square foot, elementary school in Greenwich, which is applying for a Silver LEED Level of certification.

Using scientific standards, the LEED criteria emphasizes the most current technologies for sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality. For a building owner, a LEED building is more efficient, easier to maintain, has more value in the marketplace and is a recognized example of environmental excellence. There is current legislation in Connecticut that has passed the senate and has been sent to the house that looks to "require certain state-financed construction projects to meet or exceed the silver building rating of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design's rating system for new commercial construction and major renovation projects."
