Project Details
The library building in North Bellmore dated back to the 1960’s and was in dire need of a renovation and expansion. A new library was designed with input from the public. The expansion included 4,500 square feet of new space in the form of a “glass enclosed wrapper” which runs around three sides of the building. A new Children’s Library and a variety of meeting spaces can now be enjoyed by visitors to the library.
The construction included the addition of a special-needs area to the Children’s Library, where children can enjoy a private space for learning and playing. Other new features include the addition of new lighting, a stage and a gas fireplace in the Community Room. A temporary site was used while the renovation/expansion took place.
