Description:
The new design for the Stevens Building meets the needs of an academic program that integrates science and studio art in the Upper School Building, provides common space for older students and provides the Middle School with needed class, laboratory and music rooms. The total area of new construction is 18,000 square feet.

The structural work for the additions and renovations to the Stevens Building at the New Canaan Country Day School include: the partial demolition of the existing two story portion of Stevens School, a three story horizontal addition containinag classrooms, science labs and art studios; a one story vertical addition to the existing two story building; a one story horizontal addition of administrative space, and the analysis for code seismic forces in the exisiting building and design for code compliance.

The Stevens Building will meet the criteria for LEED certification, meaning it has been designed and built to have a low impact on the environment, provide healthy and comfortable surroundings for the occupants, and provide a positive economic impact over the lifecycle of the building.
