Description:
National Hall is a prestigious, world class hotel and the hub of a complex of rehabilitated 19th century, and new buildings fronting the Saugatuck River in Westport, Connecticut. The transformation of National Hall from crumbling
riverside landmark to a showpiece hotel and restaurant was achieved by
meeting a long series of engineering challenges. The Di Salvo Ericson Group
provided complete structural engineering services during
the restoration to:
- Sustain the structure during reconstruction
- Repair and re-secure the cast iron facade
- Remove two interior bearing walls
- Stabilize untied and unsecured building walls
- Support and strengthen rotted massive wood trusses
- Shore the building and bring foundation back up
six inches on the river side
- Add heavily loaded mechanical equipment to roof
- Insert another floor level
