| Greenwich Family Y - Greenwich, CT |
![]() Architect: Perkins Eastman Architects, PC Stamford, CT Profile: This expansion of the original 87 year old YMCA transforms the facility from a YMCA designed to accommodate 600 boys and men to a Family Y serving 8,000 members. Two additions house an elevated Olympic size swimming pool, a new gymnasium, racquetball and squash courts, and a full childcare center. The two additions top a two-story parking garage, providing off street parking to members. The existing historic Y building has undergone a complete renovation to the interior with reconfigured spaces, upgrades to provide handicapped access, modernization, and renovation to the original pool and gym. To support the roof over large column-free areas, curved steel roof trusses were chosen and will be exposed to view from below, as well as, from outside the building through the curtain wall system around the perimeter walls. The additions are supported above a two-story post-tensioned concrete waffle slab parking garage, extending both above and below grade. Construction cost; $30M. ![]() ![]() |
